******* Quote of the week ******* "Work and play are the same. - Shakti Gawain
Hello everyone, You're probably surprised at this new newsletter. It's something I've
been planning to do for a while. So what's been happening? Well much.
As you can see the dream club list has been quiet for a while but that
will soon change. Although I will be posting this newsletter on a weekly
basis this list is still meant to be a discussion list so feel free
to post any creative writings, essays or whatever is on your mind. As
for this newsletter I will post it once a week. Each week I will include
an excerpt from my book 'Dream Power: How to make your dreams come true
with the power of inspiration.' I finally finished it but am waiting
for my wife to edit it so the sections will be unedited copies. I will
cover the three main areas of understanding inspiration, finding your
dream and finally, living your dream. Unfortunately, there is so much
information that it will take about a year to disseminate it all and
even then we're still not done. I will also include excerpts and interesting
articles from other authors and web sites too. I will also include That's it for now. Enjoy! And, until next time Dream On! Will Drake
I finally finished the overall framework for the new Dream Power web site. Most of you probably don't remember the old one but I have had a vision for a new one for a long time. Basically I want it to be a resource where people who are on the dream path can come and get support and information. It is composed of four basic sections. The 'MyDream' section The Wisdom section The Resource section The Store section I added a cool feature that streams in music as you browse the web pages. Currently I only have one selection of music but in the future it will be a mini juke box playing relaxing pieces of your choice while you browse the site. Check out the site at http://www.mydreampower.com. If you have any suggestions or comments please let me know at will@mydreampower.com
The first part, is about understanding the power of inspiration. I talk about what inspiration really is, how it works, where it comes from, what makes it work and what stops it. Once you understand these concepts then you understand the power of inspiration, the energy that powers our dreams. But this is just the beginning; this is just a mental understanding of what I am talking about. Next, you must find your dream and this is what the second part, 'finding your dream' is about. Everyone is unique and everyone has a special inspiration that is his or her special unique gift to the world. This gift once found is your true dream, also know as your calling, life mission, and or purpose. But once found, what good is a dream if it cannot be lived to it's fullest! Living our dream fully is what the last and third part is all about. This part deals with balancing the needs of everyday life while living our dreams. To do this requires mastery of several things most importantly our fears and insecurities, because of this it is the most difficult aspect of the whole journey. But once attained this state of being is probably the closest we could every get to heaven on earth while in this life. It is my belief that with enough time and effort anyone and everyone can reach this state and that the world will be a much better place for it. -From the book: 'Dream Power: How to make your dreams come true with the power of inspiration' To read more on this topic go to: ******* Poem ******* The Wakeup Call Someone once said: 'Normal' is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work, driving through traffic in a car that you are still paying for, in order to get to the job that you need so you can pay for the clothes, car, and the house that you leave empty all day to afford to live in it. This is insanity! You didn't come to this Earth to waste your life. You came to make a difference. That difference is your dream. No, not that false dream and ambition that you tell people to impress them. No, this dream is what you really want to do with your life when you stop caring about what others think. This dream belongs to you alone. This dream is, your passion, your joy, your love. That thing in life that you love to do for the pure Joy of doing it. This is your calling and your purpose for being. So why aren't you doing it? What is it that keeps stopping you? Why does your dream keep getting put off, put aside, neglected? Whatever you said it was just an excuse! You must push pass those limiting beliefs and do it anyway! It's time for you to commit to your dream and by doing so you will have made a commitment to yourself, the most important commitment of your life. Does pursuing your dream scare you? Realize that when you are doing what you love all you will experience is pure joy! There is nothing to be afraid of. Living a life without meaning is what you need to be afraid of. You will only find your true power when you start doing what you love. And when you do what you love you will finally find true happiness and abundance. Action is the key. Make time for your dream. The world is counting on you. There is nothing to be afraid of because everything you need and want is within you. God's creative spirit powers your dream and is not limited by time nor space and is infinite in its abundance. All you have to do is what you can with what you have where you are today. Start small and take small steps. Trust yourself, trust your heart, act on your dream today, and leave a meaningful mark on the world. -From the book: 'Dream Power: How to make your dreams come true with the power of inspiration'
Inspiration is a door to a much more meaningful, fulfilling and abundant life. No matter what your status or education or situation, inspiration is a door that many of us can go through to a larger world full of hope and possibility. The thing is most people have no clue about this. They see glimpses of it when they have an impulsive inspired feeling or idea but they usually quickly dismiss the feeling as nothing more than just a passing fancy. They let what I call the 'inner critic' talk them out of it. The sad part is, that by not following this inspirational energy they have cut themselves off from the very thing that could get them out of their problems and to the life they really want. I see this happening all the time, I do it too but now when I recognize inspiration I have a reverence for it and I have learned to ignore the 'inner critic.' It is such a simple thing actually. What many people don't understand is that this energy is everything. If they really knew what being touched by this energy meant they would jump up and down and thank God because to be touched by this energy is a true gift from Heaven. Step one is to understand that when you feel inspired it is so much more that just a good feeling, it is basically God coming over and saying 'Hey want to play? But even if you understand this intellectually the real key is to know what it feels like because it is the feeling recognition of this energy that is most important. See, when you are inspired it's an energy flow. This is again, not just a good feeling your body happens to be having that day. This energy is God's creative energy, which is basically love energy. This conscious energy is creative and has intelligence. This is why when you feel inspired you feel pregnant, like you 'just have to get it out.' You also have a feeling that you can't get it out fast enough and the reason this is, is because you are a channel for this energy, it is not coming from you but through you. All you really have to do is get out of the way. Since this is love energy you will feel joyous when you let this energy flow through you. This is why you feel so good expressing it. It's similar to the way that a light bulb lights up as electricity passes through it. Inspirational energy is all 'want to' there is nothing you 'should do' or 'have to do' with this energy. All we 'have to' do is let it flow. When inspirational energy is flowing you do not want to stop, everything
in you wants to let it flow. Time stops as you enter the moment. You
feel pulled by some invisible force. And you are being pulled, guided
towards a higher destiny. The thing is that the smallest and simplest
situation can be the catalyst for inspiring you. It is important that
when you are inspired you go with it. Many times we judge the form of
the inspiration not realizing that it will evolve into higher and higher
forms. We let the inner critic talk us into closing off the flow. For example, you might, while driving have a feeling to stop in a particular
store, or to cook a certain dish or to pick up a pencil and start to
draw something. One day you might get the urge to build something or
make something, you don't know why, you just feel like it. Well, that's
inspiration. But what usually happens? The inner critic steps in and
says, all kinds of negative things like: You get the idea. The trick is to ignore that voice and do whatever you feel inspired to do anyway. Follow the energy and let it flow and go along for the ride. Of course that will require faith and trust and for you to let-go of expectations but don't worry it will be a wonderful adventure that will take you to exactly where you need to be.
