Star Kids is a live action children’s film about four kids who run away from home in search of several powerful spiritual artifacts which hold the key to mankind’s survival. During their quest, they are pursued by a group of mysterious agents who are determined to take possession of the artifacts first.

I would like to introduce you to Joumana Medlej, an incredibly talented artist I found on the Internet. I was researching names for the boy character in the Star Kids movie when I ran across someone who said:

"I collect them (names) from around the world and I
find it very stimulating to discover their meanings
and, sometimes, their stories."

I thought, "Hmm, this person sounds interesting."
Upon further investigation, I came across her website
and was just blown away!

First of all, I just loved her website. It was done in
such a beautiful, unique way. But even stranger was the fact that she organized her site around the earth elements of earth, fire, air and water. You see…these are the very same elements that the movie "Star Kids" is organized around (Coincidence? No, more like divine appointment!).

Anyway, I wasn't sure what she was about, but upon looking at her illustration section, I stumbled upon an image of a beautiful black girl with purple eyes. I was just shocked because right there was a Star Kid, just as I had imagined she would look! Intrigued, I kept looking and just fell in love with her work. I made an attempt to contact her, which proved difficult. It turned out, she lived in Beirut Lebanon, and it was the summer of 2006 when that horrible war was raging between Hezbollah and Israel. Unfortunately, when I did reach her, she had been forced to evacuate to Berlin Germany. She was ok, but said her life had been turned upside down. But even with all of the trouble, she was gracious enough to let us use some of her illustrations to communicate the style of the Star Kids characters.

Not only is she an incredible illustrator, but at 27 years of age, she is a world traveler, incorporating various cultural elements in her work in creative ways that I have never seen before. She is also a writer, and photographer. Her mother and her have created a beautiful series of children's books (now available in English) about life in Lebanon. And, she's not afraid to share her talents; She has written a beautifully detailed drawing tutorial. She's also a martial artist, and makes jewelry and handmade books. This woman is an incredible creative dynamo who is obviously not afraid to fully express and share who she is with the world! Her mission, (from what I can tell) can be summarized by her comments about the war:

"Showing, or reminding the world that Lebanon, even
in the midst of war, is much more about loving life
than about weeping or shaking fists. Most people
think of Lebanon and feel sorry; I want them to think
of it and smile."

Joy is a true power. Joy is God's power. It is his energy and his energy is love, for God is love. With this power, you have the ability to create anything good, including the life you really want. Joy is not just a happy feeling or a good feeling; this is the myth that you have been taught. No, joy is a power, that when expressed, does much good in the world.

By letting this power or energy of joy be expressed, you help yourself. This is why it is so important to find the joyful things in life, and to stay in a joyful state, because in reality, joy is love energy being expressed. Joy contains intelligent creative energy, and like water flowing downhill, it will find it's true purpose and destiny. You do not have to direct it. It will direct itself. In so doing, it will bring you like a river to where you need to be. It is like riding a lighting bolt. It can help you solve all of you problems.

Love also is not just some kind of feeling or feel good thing. It is God's pure energy. When we learn to love, we are remembering that we are like God, and in the process, becoming closer to God. This is very important; because this is why we are here: to become like God by remembering how to love.

One way to love is to create something beautiful out of love and to share it with the world. When you create in this way, you're expressing love. And when you express this type of love, you feel an incredibly joyous happy feeling. But this is not just when you create something, it is felt whenever you express love. You just may not be aware of it. We tend not to be aware of what we are feeling when we create, but a good deed done out of love can also give you this feeling. There is an infinite supply of this "love" energy as God is infinite. This energy has intelligence and is the way you co-create with God, because as you express this energy God is with you. With this energy, there is no fear. It is important to find joy in your life. However, many people tend to write off joy as just a "good feeling" that has no real power. They think, 'Yeah, that's nice…but now I have to get serious about life." This is totally incorrect because love and joy are where our true power and creativity lie.

Want to accomplish something? Want to get something done? Want to have a real effect on others? Find your joy and express it. Just open the door of your heart and let it out. Don't judge what the joy expression is. Just find it, and feel it, and it will express itself though you. It will then affect all those around you. This is the power of joy, and it will guide you to exactly where you need to be.

From 1953 to 1981 a silver haired woman calling herself only "Peace Pilgrim" walked more than 25,000 miles on a personal pilgrimage for peace. She vowed to "remain a wanderer until mankind has learned the way of peace, walking until given shelter and fasting until given food." In the course of her 28 year pilgrimage she touched the hearts, minds, and lives of thousands of individuals all across North America. Her message was both simple and profound. It continues to inspire people all over the world.
